Just because you are claiming some form of social security benefit from the Government that does not mean that you have no rights and you just have to accept whatever they choose to give you.
There are in fact very detailed rules indeed on social security entitlements and it is not unheard of for the people who administer these benefits to get it wrong and break the rules themselves.
