A rentcharge is an obligation, that sometimes goes with ownership of a house, to pay a sum of money every year to somebody else. A but like rent, but the payer is an owner not a tenant.
Rentcharges are very rare nowadays, and there is legislation in place to scrap them altogether with effect from 2036.
