Some employers do this also.
Sometimes this is not very obvious. It might be buried in the small print of a staff handbook or membership pack somewhere. So it might be worth having a good look just in case.
But be wary though of a situation where the same insurance company that is provided by your employer etc might also be defending your claim, if it is against the same employer. In that event there would be a conflict of interest, so it might well then be advisable not to use that insurance if you can fund a claim in another way.
