If you are a client of a lawyer together with someone else, confidentiality will not stop the lawyer discussing your affairs with them or vice versa (unless a conflict arises in which case see the separate section on conflicts of interest).
One situation in which this often arises is where a lawyer acts for husband and wife. Also if you buy a house with a mortgage (or remortgage), the lawyer usually acts for you and the mortgage lender as well.
