WHY USE US?

Court cases generally run on the basis that if you withdraw your claim or defence, as the case may be, then you automatically lose. That means that your opponent has won by default and you then become liable to pay their costs, the same as if you had taken the dispute to court and lost. This only applies however when actual court proceedings have been commenced.

In practical terms, when somebody wants to withdraw a court case or a defence, they will very often come to an arrangement with the other side that in return for the withdrawal no costs or reduced costs will be claimed. This does not always work, but if you're going to withdraw anyway you may as well give it a try. Even if it does not work the costs after a withdrawal will be a lot less than they would be if the matter is allowed to proceed to a hearing
