WHY USE US?

Nowadays in spite of all the data protection legislation, most people's private financial affairs are extremely well known to a surprisingly wide array of financial institutions with whom they deal on a daily basis.

For example every time you get a credit card or open a bank account or anything of that nature, or even every time you go shopping in certain high street supermarkets lots of details about what you've bought and when you bought it and where you bought it and which bargain offers you happen to prefer is all stored away in computers for future reference.

A lot of this information finds its way to credit reference agencies. All the credit reference agencies do is keep it and then recycle it to other financial institutions who might want to know something about you when you apply for another credit card or loan or whatever it might be.

If this information is not very flattering, e.g., because you have not kept up payments on a previous loan or credit card or whatever, then you may find that as a result of that you are refused the further credit or credit card or whatever that you're seeking.

That in turn gives you certain rights to see your own information on the credit reference agencies which, because it is computerised, may well be wrong. This is especially if you have a common name because it might be somebody else's information put on your file by mistake or maybe if you live somewhere with other people who are not as financially scrupulous as you are, or even if you live in a house where such people used to live before you even moved in.

All sorts of problems can happen when computers are relied on too much, and at the end of the day all the credit reference agency is is a huge big computer carrying information about everybody.

A lawyer will help you through the process of finding out what is held by credit reference agencies about you and whether it is correct and if it's not correct how to go about getting it correct.
