If the papers belong to two or more clients, the consent of all of them is needed to release them from storage. However each client is entitled to copies if the others will not consent to release of originals.
Sometimes a file contains some papers that are owned by one of the clients and others owned by the other(s). In that case each client can only have access to, or copies of, their own papers.
Some papers are owned by the lawyer rather than the client. There is no entitlement to access to these or to copies of these.
A charge may be made for retrieval from storage, selection of papers and/or copying.
