Divorce need not be messy (Published 27/06/05)

About 40 years ago, the government of the day decided that divorce was far too complicated and the lawyers were getting involved far too much for its liking. So it decided to make things simpler, in order to keep the lawyers out. The new system that resulted was, in essence, the system we still have today.

So how come the lawyers are still involved just as much as they ever were? The answer lies in the very traditional nature of the legal profession, which makes it very reluctant to be elbowed out of what it sees as its 'patch'. And this is a large part of the reason why Wilsons Solicitors exists.

Most solicitors will have you believe that all law and legal procedures are very complicated and you will quickly come a cropper if you try to handle them on your own. This is true to a certain extent, but nowhere near as much as they make out. At Wilsons, we approach things from the other end. That's what makes us different from other law firms.
